August 28 – The Beginnings of Wisdom
"I have searched for a joy without end, for a solid without fluctuation." -William Blake
By practicing the prajna or wisdom paramita, the mind is said to become more clear and peaceful. Insight grows and faith becomes solid and joyous. As luminous, transcendent wisdom develops, so too does compassion and an understanding of the interconnectedness of all things. The noble Bodhisattvas and Buddhas are guided by such luminous wisdom. Everyone from Milarepa to Yeshe Sogyal embodied it. But how can an ordinary person practice the wisdom paramita? Are the brief moments of transcendent insight,
the sudden awareness that things are not as they appear to be, precursors to awakening? How can we recognize and cultivate prajna in our everyday lives? In this session, we'll discuss how some of the great yogis and yoginis manifested their early wisdom experiences. We'll also share our own stories of the awakening mind. Please join us.
